Not really a “top ten” as such, but continuing with our budget gamer theme, our editor Rich decided he fancied a cheap new game. Being lazy (and a new dad :D), he decided to leave the task to me. My mission, whether I like it or not, is to find 10 quality games for a tenner for him to choose from. Please note, this list contains pre-owned as well as new copies.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – £9.98 (preowned) GAME

Dragon Rising takes place on the island of Skira. American forces get involved in a local struggle against the Chinese for resources on the island. OF:DR didn’t do very well at launch, due to multiple glitches and poor multiplayer, but the campaign is brilliant, especially on co-op with a few mates, not to mention some excellent lighting effects as day become night.

Halo 3: ODST – £8.00 (preowned) CeX

Give Master Chief a break as you plough through New Mombasa. Fight terrifying Covenant as a rookie member of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, and ensure that humankind lives to fight another day. ODST saw a new multiplayer mode for the franchise, Firefight, which made from some pretty intense combat. Grab up to 3 mates and see how long you can survive in this intense wave based mode.

Wet – £9.90 (new) Play.com

Touted as a heavily stylised Tomb Raider, you play Rubi Malone: a mercenary hired to retrieve a briefcase from a gang, leaving plenty of bodies in her wake. On release the game got received mixed reviews, but for less than a tenner you can’t go wrong. High octane combat where stringing together combos is key to success, Wet also features so pretty zaney graphic design including some rather random cinema infomercials.

Dragon Age Origins – £9.85 (new) Shop To

Set in Ferelden, you must face a dark enemy known as the Blight. Teaming up with Duncan, a legendary Grey Warden, you encounter civil war, riots, and dark arts in order to rid the realm of the darkspawn. Gaming at its best from the daddy of all things RPG, Bioware.

Splinter Cell: Conviction - £9.85 (new) Zavvi

In the fifth Splinter Cell game, series veteran Sam Fisher returns to follow up rumours that the death of his daughter may not have been an accident.  Conviction released to mostly positive reviews with scores generally being over 90%. It also featured a story mode unique to co-op as well as a set of terrorist hunt style missions.

Battlefield Bad Company – £9.85 (new) Zavvi

Set in the near future, the Battlefield: Bad Company single-player campaign drops you behind enemy lines as part of a squad of four soldiers – risking it all to go AWOL on a personal quest. Grab it now if you cant wait for Battlefield 3 in November and get a taste of DICE’s unique Frostbite engine, where pretty much everything is destructible.

Mass Effect 2 – £6.85 (new) The Hut

Following on from the acclaimed Mass Effect, Shepard must recruit a crack team and seek revenge for an attack on his ship The Normandy. Mass Effect 2 is currently the 3rd highest ranked Xbox 360 title on Gamerankings.com.

Alan Wake - £10.99 (new) GAME

Follow the best-selling author around Bright Falls, an idyllic town in the middle of nowhere, as he tries to piece together the mystery behind the disappearance of his wife Alice. The game sure took its time to get a release date, suffering delay after delay but boy did it deliver offering one of the finest stories of the year.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - £9.95 (new) Shop To

Arkham Asylum pretty much came out of nowhere when it was released, and went on to take the gaming world by storm at the 2010 Baftas, scooping 2 awards. If you havent played it yet, then why not? Go pick up a bargain now before the new Arkham City comes out later this year.

Half Life 2 (Orange Box) – from £6.99 (preowned) Amazon

Three games for the price of one: Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Three heavyweights from developers Valve. Don’t pass up an opportunity to play some of the best loved titles in gaming history, you will not be disappointed only that you had waited this long to play them!

All the games above were in stock and prices were correct at the time of writing. Hope you find something new to play now Rich!

But you can't use preowned Orange Box because its links to someones Steam account. You can get it now for about £10 anyway.

    borderlands?

Sucky choices, not all bad, there are a few great games. I'd go more into the Indie scene if I were to chose under a tenner, and I definitely wouldn't include preowned games.

Those are really one of the top games that can play in xbox and one of my favorite there was Mass Effect and Halo which I already played before.
