505 Games have teamed up with Kickstarter candidate Serellan to bring a new tactical shooter to Xbox. Called Takedown: Red Sabre, this will be developed after Serellan secured the funding they required through their Kickstarter campaign. 505 Games have now announced that they will publish this title.

Takedown: Red Sabre is a tactical shooter being developed by the Tom Clancy Ghost Recon franchise’s Creative Director , Christian Allen. His team of developers have worked on such titles as Halo, Ghost Recon, SOCOM, SWAT and F.E.A.R.

It is the natural successor to games such as the original Rainbow Six and SWAT series, ideal for gamers who like methodical, deliberate action, rather than the going in gung-ho. Each scenario is designed to copy the tactics employed by SWAT teams and SOF units. The game will also allow for non-linear gameplay, including multiple routes and tactics to add to its longevity.

Head of Global Brand for 505 Games, Tom Woodley said:

“Takedown: Red Sabre is a community project, one of the latest to be born out of Kickstarter, and the team at Serellan have already garnered a significant following. Our role in this partnership is to preserve and encourage the team’s direct dialogue with the community while ensuring we leverage our global presence to grow the audience, amplify the buzz and maximise the potential we and the community of early evangelists believe that Takedown: Red Sabre has”

Christian Allen from Serellan added:

“We are extremely pleased to be able to let our Kickstarter community know that their early faith in the Takedown dream will be rewarded with a global campaign from a committed partner who consistently launches successful global campaigns from IL-2: Sturmovik to Sniper Elite V2.”

Takedown: Red Sabre has been pencilled in for release this year. It is currently not known if this will be a full release or an XBLA release, in line with 505′s more recent titles.
