Any fans of both Metal Gear Solid and the Xbox 360, will have shed a tear last month, when Hideo Kojima and Konami announced The Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection.

Containing every Metal Gear to date, and packaged neatly in a uber-cool box, it’s certainly a must have for every fan but unfortunately is set to remain a PS3 exclusive. Boo! I hear you cry (In fact I’m with you)

So why are Xbox users being left out in the cold? Well according to Kojima The Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection will not be coming to the Xbox 360 thanks to the prohibitive storage space on a DVD.

“I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale,” explained Kojima on his online radio show. “To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous

Apparently it would take seven DVDs to hold all of the data in Metal Gear Solid 4 alone, while on the PS3’s Blu-Ray, it could contain the hefty game within just one disc.

It’s not all bad news However, if the rumours are true then the next Xbox  could very well be using Blu-rays as its new physical media, giving Microsoft the chance to finally play home to Metal Gear Solid 4 and the Legacy Collection.

“When it’s the next console, maybe we can release The Legacy Collection, If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.”
