Future installments in the Mass Effect franchise are to have a brand new starting point and a completely fresh character, according to producer Fabrice Condominas.
While not yet confirmed, Bioware have always been open about the fact that Mass Effect may continue on after the initial trilogy, though they have confirmed that not only will there be no Commander Shepard, but the new main character will not be a carbon copy.
“So first, we don’t want to make ‘Shepard 2′, or Mass Effect 4 with like, oh there’s no more Shepard but you’re a soldier in the universe. So this will be a very, very different context for sure, and nothing has been decided on the rest.”
That last quote intrigued me; you’ve always been on the front lines of the galactic politics and battles, a more subdued approach could be interesting. As long as it’s not a prequel I’ll be fine.
